Leaving for Cameroon soon
30.6.2008 von Cornelia.
Dear friends and supporters!
Finally Johannes and me will be leaving for Cameroon again. On August 10th we will head for Buea where we stayed last year with Patricia and her family. We cannot wait to arrive back there! From then on we will be working together with our partner organisation Nkong Hilltop on our renewable energy project for M’muock village in the South West Province.
The project includes a training of interested craftsmen on how to build small scale wind- and water generators for energy production in the village. And the cool thing about it: we will mainly use locally available material. On the picture you seeour first training in April last year. It is just a model - don’t worry - the real wind-generators look a lot different!
We have been planning and preparing this whole project together with Vincent from Nkong Hilltop and also with the help of Kennedy, Maroius and many others for almost 12 months now. Within Germany we founded the organisation GREEN STEP e.V. , we were trying to raise donations and funding for the project, we held 2 workshops on the technology we use in Munich (the picture you see is from the workshop in May where we trained 25 interested people mainly from other NGOs that want to use the technology in their projects). We were also talking with people interested in our project on festivals in Germany and last but not least we won a scholarship with the project plan in the national competition start social (www.startsocial.de).
Now we are finally able to go back to Cameroon (you see a picture of us in M’muock last year)! We cannot wait to see all our friends there again, to live with Patricia and her lovely family, to get back to the village and finally start the project and training in M’muock! We really hope the project will work out and the first wind generators build by the villagers themselves will be up and running soon. We will keep you updated on the project progress on this blog! So get back here soon!
So much for now - if you wish to comment this blog you need to klick on the button “Kommentar” on the bottom (sorry the software only runs in German…).
Take care
Cornelia and Johannes
